What we promise — and how we prove it.
A standard is only as good as the evidence behind it. Here is ours, line by line.
Hens live semi-free range scavanging the ground, so the grass stays alive, the soil rebuilds, and the birds always wake up to new ground to scratch.
Uncaged and foraging
Birds spend their days on the ground with grass, insects, and shade. They are housed at night for protection from predators and cold.
How we prove it: every flock is registered with a house code; collection records link every batch back to a named flock.
Low antibiotic
Low routine antibiotics. The only medicines used are vaccinations against the diseases that genuinely matter; Newcastle, Gumboro, Fowl Pox.
How we prove it: every vaccination is logged with a vaccine type, lot number, vaccinator name, and date visible on each batch's trace page.
Locally sourced feed
Local mash, maize brand, Sunflower cake, household scraps, and living on the grass with access to direct Sunlight.
How we prove it: every feed delivery is logged with source, lot, and quantity visible on the flock's record.
Indigenous and dual-purpose breeds
Local Kuroiler, Sasso brown, indigenous free-range. Hardy breeds that thrive in our climate without intensive inputs.
How we prove it: each flock is registered with its breed and supplier of origin.
What we are working toward
Honesty about what we don't have yet matters as much as what we do. We are not yet certified by a third party, we are building toward it. We do not yet hatch our own chicks, we currently buy day-old chicks from trusted hatcheries, and we will move to on-site hatching in a coming phase. We will tell you when each of these changes.
How traceability works in practice
- Every flock is registered with a unique code (e.g.
MF-N1-2025-001) tied to a specific house, breed, and intake date. - Vaccinations, feed, mortality, and daily egg counts are logged against that flock.
- When eggs are collected at the hub, the collection event records which farmer, which flock, and how many trays — and triggers the farmer's mobile-money payment.
- Collections are packed into market-bound batches with a short batch code printed on a QR label on every carton.
- You scan the code (or type it in at /trace) and see the whole story.
